Medical Assistant
Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! recruits trainees for a Medical Assistant accelerated training program offered through Delta College, in partnership with Covenant HealthCare, McLaren Health Care and MidMichigan Health.
What is the Medical Assistant Training Program?
It is a three-semester accelerated training course for those interest in a career as a medical assistant. First semester is 16 credits. Second semester is 12 credits. The third and final semester is 9 credits.
Education/Experience Requirements
- GED or high school diploma
Other Requirements
- Must be able to pass an background check and drug test
Program Selection
Program slots will be offered to the applicants who best meet the preferred candidate qualifications, which include minimum test scores, work experience, and previous education/training. Class schedules and times will vary.
Application Process
Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! recruits people for accelerated training, offers career managers to review applications, and provides funding to those who qualify.
- Applicants must submit application and required documentation to training provider.
- Training provider selects applicants for the program and conducts the training.
- A resume must accompany each application, documenting all required skills, experience and test scores. Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! can help applicants with resume preparation.

Service Center for orientation and/or a one-on-one appointment with a staff member. Also, start collecting eligibility documents, including driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate, education credentials/transcripts, resume and unemployment information (if applicable).
