At Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!, our staff helps all kinds of people look for jobs. Whether you need help with completing your high school diploma/GED or you already have a master’s degree and are looking to change careers. In fact, we are The Talent Experts – a team of skilled, experienced job search experts! We can assist you with unmatched resources and employer connections. And, while we don’t exactly “get” you a job – only you can do that – we will provide you with a competitive advantage.

Our services are highly personalized and centered around YOU, your personal strengths, and the direction you’d like to take your job search.

Sure, you can look for a job on your own. But why not take advantage of a human connection ready to assist you for FREE?

Through our five service centers throughout the region, we routinely interact with at least one-quarter of the region’s workforce and more than 2,000 employers annually. We are the pulse of the job market.

Anyone seeking work in Saginaw, Midland, Bay, Gratiot and Isabella counties can use our service centers to:

  • Talk to our helpful, knowledgeable staff
  • Use office resources for job search purposes: computer, phone, fax, copier
  • Research job leads
  • Locate resources to help determine what kinds of careers you are best suited for and most interested in
  • Create or update your Pure Michigan Talent Connect profile (Michigan’s largest online database linking job seekers and employers)
  • Create or update your resume and cover letter
  • Upgrade interview skills
  • Attend job fairs and job fair prep workshops
  • Learn who’s recruiting for training
  • Discover other resources related to job searching

Some people may qualify for customized services:

  • Removing barriers to employment
  • Work readiness assistance
  • Career guidance
  • Basic skills upgrade in math, reading or computer literacy through one of our academic centers
  • Scholarships for training

What to expect when visiting a Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! Service Center

When you walk in, you will be greeted by a friendly receptionist who will ask:

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • Four numbers of your choice (such as the last four digits of your phone number or social security number; something you will remember)
  • Whether or not you are a military veteran

The receptionist will create a GLBMW! profile for you, which you will enter at the reception desk each time you visit a service center, which we hope is often!

Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! Service Centers are busy places! We offer one-stop shopping for job searching, but also provide representatives from the following partner organizations equally willing to help you:
