Serving Bay, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, & Saginaw Counties
In the last few years, we’ve helped local employers build a more competitive workforce by providing funding to train thousands of area residents for success in high-demand industries like health care, manufacturing, construction, information technology and business services.
Last year, Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! helped 49 employers obtain competitive grants totally more than $1.8 million. Previously called Skilled Trades Training Fund — now called the Going Pro Talent Fund — these funds are part of a state program that employers can access only through Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! and a proprietary orientation and application process. Eligible training may include blueprint reading, CNC certification, financial accounting, IT certification, process improvement and quality management systems, leadership or management training among others.
Information sessions to learn about these funds usually begin in the summer, with employers working one-on-one with their BST rep to apply by October.
