  • Are you working harder than you’d like to recruit talent for your organization?
  • Struggling to hire good people who show up for work engaged and ready to produce?
  • Tired of losing qualified workers who struggle with life issues?
  • Interested in reducing employee turnover and its costs?
  • Looking for proactive hiring solutions

If so, the Business Resource Network could be the answer!

What is the BRN?

Many employees are just “one flat tire” away from a financial or emotional crisis that plays a role in their work productivity and attendance. The Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! BRN is a multi-employer collaborative to proactively address common employment barriers that affect productivity, attendance and the resulting employee turnover they cause.

Patterned after similar programs in Michigan and around the country, our program matches 5-8 businesses with a network success coach who commits several hours weekly to each employer.

The network success coach meets with employees individually and confidentially to troubleshoot outside personal problems that affect work performance:

  • Time management
  • Attendance issues
  • Affordable childcare
  • Reliable transportation
  • Substance abuse
  • Stable housing
  • Stress management
  • Budgeting and financial literacy
  • Employment stability

Employers pay an annual membership fee to belong to the network, which allows access to a “share” (or multiple shares) of the network success coach. Network employers meet regularly  to review progress and develop solutions to common problems across the network’s workforce.

Who Should Join the BRN?

Employers should consider joining the BRN if they are strategically seeking these benefits:

  • Increased productivity and employee retention
  • Increased employee engagement and loyalty
  • Reduced absenteeism
  • Reduced recruiting/training costs
  • Reduced employee turnover
  • Overall greater competitiveness in their markets

How Does the Network Success Coach Help?

  • BRN success coaches work with network employers to promote services using on-site marketing material.
  • The network success coach dedicates hours onsite at each BRN employer and is available each week via email, text and phone.
  • Interested employees make an appointment with the success coach, who meets with them onsite in private space provided for confidential meetings to connect them with to company, public and nonprofit resources and assistance they need.
  • The network success coach provides regular updates to BRN employers, reporting metrics and sharing solutions.
