Each Career Ladder:

  • Depicts a series of work experiences that lead to more challenging and higher paying opportunities (some ladders allow for advancement through experience and on-the-job training; others require formal licensing, education, or certification)
  • Describes the occupation(s) in terms of specific tasks and typical job duties
  • Provides wages specific to the Saginaw Valley at entry-level and above
  • Outlines working conditions, including physical demands and work environment
  • Projects the rate of growth for a particular occupation by state and federal agencies over the next several years
  • Lists local training providers within the region for a particular occupation
  • Describes in detail career advancement opportunities
  • Provides employer responses to the question, “What do you look for in a potential employee for this position?”

Career Ladders are aimed at students in grades 8-12, their parents, teachers, and counselors, as well as Michigan Works! job seeker clients.
