Accessibility Policy

Ensuring Access for Everyone

MichiganWorks! is committed to being fully accessible to every visitor, regardless of any disability they may have or the technology they use. This page details MichiganWorks! policy on providing access for everyone:

  • MichiganWorks! strives to adhere to the recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative. The structure and basic design are used consistently throughout the website, and structural design is separated from cosmetic effects to ensure the website is structurally identical in all browsers.

  • Recommended accessible design principles are used except where current browsers (used by the majority of visitors) do not correctly support those principles.

  • All content must pass the Bobby test for Priority 1 accessibility, excluding circumstances described in the previous point.

  • All content must validate under the rules set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium, excluding circumstances described previously.

  • MichiganWorks! will support the current release version of all web browsers and assistive technologies, except where such support would negatively affect other users or would contravene the previous three points.

  • All multimedia content on the site (including images) is labeled with alternative text. Where possible, detailed text descriptions of images, sound clips or movies are provided. Multimedia links are always clearly labeled.

  • MichiganWorks! will adopt and support new assistive technologies where feasible.

  • Any accessibility problems reported by readers will be verified and corrected, in accordance with this policy, as soon as possible.

If you have any problems accessing this website, please contact MichiganWorks!.
